The governing bodies of Prime School International
The journey of Prime School International began with Dr. Edith Reina, its founder and director, who dedicated more than a decade to educating young people in Portugal and across Europe. With a background in economics and serving as the Costa Rican Consul General in Portugal for 13 years, Dr. Reina earned recognition for her outstanding service and dedication. Her efforts were commended by Costa Rican President Abel Pacheco de la Espriella for her role in bolstering international diplomacy and fostering commercial and tourist relations between Portugal and Costa Rica.
Former President Aníbal Cavaco Silva also acknowledged Dr. Reina's contributions to cultural exchange programs and promoting understanding between nations through various cultural events. Notably, she served as an assistant director under Jerry Lewis, the former President of the Association des Myopathes de France, where her focus was on advancing medical research, particularly in neuromuscular disorders and gene therapy.
Dr. Reina's vision for a unique educational institution that blends diplomatic expertise with scientific knowledge began to take shape when she collaborated with engineer Carlos Almeida. Together, they envisioned a school that would offer a comprehensive curriculum addressing challenges in international diplomacy and aerospace science. This innovative concept garnered global attention, attracting scholars and experts interested in preparing students for future advancements, especially in aviation and space exploration.
Driven by their shared commitment to empowering young people to pursue their aspirations, Dr. Reina and Engineer Almeida founded Prime School, initially located in Sintra, Portugal. The school expanded its reach with a campus in Estoril in 2018, and in 2023, a new campus was opened in Lisbon/Alvalade.
Today, Prime School International stands as one of the leading international and boarding schools in Lisbon, offering a holistic education that nurtures future leaders with a blend of diplomatic and scientific acumen. Guided by a dedicated Board of Directors in Cascais-Estoril, the institution remains committed to maintaining educational standards, ensuring the well-being of its community, and pursuing excellence through ISO 9001 certification, setting a benchmark for quality education in Portugal.

Located in Portugal prime areas - Cascais, Estoril, Lisbon and Sintra, Prime School International is a member of the world's vast school network, present in over 160 countries. Our campuses in Portugal are not just centres of learning but hubs of global connectivity and innovation.
The school has over 15 years of history and we are proud of the amazing adults our alumni have become throughout our journey as educators. In the past years Prime School has been expanding and nowadays has over 300 students distributed in three campuses: Sintra (ages 3 to 11), Estoril (ages 11 to 18) and, more recently, Lisbon (ages 3 to 18).
From ages 3 to 18, students are immersed in the Cambridge Curriculum, taught exclusively in English. For our native Portuguese speakers, we adopt a bilingual approach with distinct classes in both English and Portuguese, based on student option.
Upon reaching Year 9 (14 yrs), students face a crucial decision. They can either continue with the renowned Cambridge pathway or transition to a Technical Level 2 and 3 route, emphasising hands-on, practical education for those inclined towards technical disciplines.
