Preschool: A Joyful Start to Lifelong Learning

Ages 3 to 5
(Sintra and Lisbon Campuses)

At Prime School International, our Preschool Program blends the Cambridge International Curriculum with the innovative PRIME Scientific Method to spark curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning.

Through personalized and hands-on activities, young learners build essential pre-skills in literacy, numeracy, and science while developing critical thinking, collaboration, and school readiness. Our engaging, play-based approach ensures children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

With a supportive and enriching environment, Prime School sets the stage for a seamless transition into formal education and a lifelong journey of success.

At Prime School, our active learning approach in language development is designed to integrate listening, speaking, early reading, and writing seamlessly into everyday activities. In our preschool programs, literacy skills are nurtured throughout the day, not just during designated "reading" time.

Our teachers engage students with read-aloud sessions, poems, songs, and rhymes to teach a range of topics across the curriculum, making learning both interactive and enjoyable. Classrooms are rich in language, with labeled objects and signs that help children make connections between objects and words, as well as words and letters. This immersion in language supports preschoolers in developing their literacy skills in a natural, meaningful way, fostering their growth as confident communicators.

By actively involving children in language-rich experiences, we ensure they are prepared for future academic success and confident in their ability to express themselves.

At Prime School, our active learning approach to mathematics is designed to integrate mathematical concepts into daily activities, encouraging preschoolers to explore and understand math in a hands-on, engaging way. Our curriculum allows children to develop essential math skills throughout the day, not just during designated "math time."

Teachers use a variety of interactive methods such as counting games, problem-solving activities, and real-life examples to teach basic math concepts. Classrooms are filled with visual aids, such as number charts and counting objects, which help children make connections between numbers and the world around them. This immersive approach encourages preschoolers to develop a solid foundation in early math skills like counting, sorting, and recognizing patterns in a fun and meaningful context.

By making math a part of their daily experiences, we ensure that preschoolers are building strong math skills that will support their academic growth and help them approach problem-solving with confidence.

At Prime School, our active learning approach to science encourages preschoolers to explore and discover the world around them through hands-on experiments and interactive activities. Science is integrated into everyday learning, providing children with opportunities to develop curiosity, ask questions, and investigate the natural world.

Teachers use simple experiments, nature walks, and sensory activities to introduce basic science concepts such as water, plants, animals, and the environment. Classrooms are equipped with science tools and materials that allow children to explore cause and effect, experiment with different substances, and observe the results. Through these experiences, children develop critical thinking skills, learn to make observations, and build a strong foundation in scientific inquiry.

By making science a part of their daily exploration, we inspire preschoolers to develop a love for discovery, fostering their natural curiosity and helping them build a lifelong interest in the sciences.

Creative ways of teaching

Sciences

At Prime School, we engage preschoolers in science through hands-on activities that spark curiosity:

  • Light Exploration: Children explore how light interacts with objects, discovering shadows and colors.
  • Weather Predictions: Kids observe and predict weather, developing critical thinking.
  • Microscope Exploration: Preschoolers examine small objects, enhancing observation skills.

These activities inspire a love for learning and discovery.

Our World

Through active learning, we help preschoolers discover and connect with our world by:

  • Family Traditions: Encouraging respect for family unity and cultural heritage.
  • Community Service Projects: Collaborating with peers on projects fosters teamwork, empathy, and social responsibility.
  • Comforting Words and Gestures: Teachers and peers create a supportive atmosphere, helping children feel safe and valued, which supports emotional growth.

These experiences nurture emotional, social, and cultural development, helping children build strong connections with the world around them.

Self-Awareness

At Prime School, we foster self-awareness in preschoolers by:

  • Empowering Choice: Allowing children to select their own snacks and meals promotes independence and decision-making skills.
  • Exploring Nutritious Foods: Teaching kids about healthy food choices and their benefits for growth encourages an understanding of personal health.
  • Promoting Physical Activities: Activities such as hopping, climbing, and yoga develop physical coordination and body awareness.

These opportunities help children build confidence in their decisions and actions, nurturing their self-awareness and overall well-being.
